Welcome to a new feature where we’ll get to know the athletes who make up Woking AC — their stories, their motivation, and a few fun surprises along the way. Who better to start with than the club’s competition secretary, Connor.
You’ll usually find Connor out on the roads — he’s a 5k and 10k specialist who started running at 16 back in his hometown of Cornwall. He missed the junior system entirely, but once he found running, that was it — the road quickly became home (though don’t expect to see him signing up for a marathon anytime soon!).
Nearly a decade later, running has become a constant in his life — shaping his discipline, work ethic, and, most importantly, his friendships.
“The social side of the sport will always be the greatest attraction — I’ve met most of my friends through it, including my slightly better half!”
His proudest moment so far? Smashing his 10k PB in tough conditions — “a big jump I just wasn’t expecting.”
And when it’s time to celebrate, he keeps it classic: a good takeaway, a cup of tea, and a proper post-race debrief.
Fun fact: he’s got a genuine obsession with space — always reading about the latest discoveries and sharing them with Charlotte (whether she wants to hear them or not!).
